The poker quest starts …

17 10 2007

Today, I am starting my poker blog and my quest.  My goal, for now, is to be able to be properly bankrolled for No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em and eventually be playing $1,000 NL.  Right now, my bankroll is quite small, sitting at $518.94 to start this quest.  I must follow some certain rules, which I have adapted from both I Covert Ops I’s blog and Shysti’s blog.  They are as follows:

 1.  Be adequately rolled for each limit:

  • $500 for $25NL
  • $1,000 for $50NL
  • $2,500 for $100NL
  • $5,000 for $200NL
  • $10,000 for $400NL
  • $18,000 for $600NL
  • $30,000 for $1,000NL

2.  If I drop below 17 buy-ins for $25NL and $50NL, or 22 buy-ins for $100NL and up, I must drop back down and rebuild the bankroll.

3.  I can multitable as much as I want, so lng as I can focus on each table.

4.  If I lose 3 buy ins, I MUST stop for the day (but may do it at 2 buy ins, for sanity’s sake)

5.  I can never withdrawl more than 20% of my bankroll each month, unless it is for bills.  I will try not to withdrawl any money, so that the bankroll grows quicker.

With these rules, if I play well, I should eventually be rolled for $200NL, as in the past I have been able to beat the $50NL games and not quite as well, but was a winning player at $100NL.  Small goals first, then the bigger goals will come.  Right now, I need to focus on getting that bankroll up to $1,000 so I can get out of the $25NL levels.  I am hoping this blog can help me find some leaks, as well as potentially benefit any other readers out there in their strive for constant improvement in this great game.

A little about myself:  I am 26 years old, married with a great dog, Bailey.  He is a Shiba Inu and is the coolest dog.  My wife is great too, and we live in Charlotte, NC.  Originally from Michigan, I can really appreciate the mild winters here.  I also enjoy building things (just started doing that since we bought a house).  About 4 months ago, I built my first project, our home bar.  It went quite well overall, but like poker, I can always improve.  Fortunately in building, trim hides these errors.  lol  I also enjoy golfing and playing many other sports.  Like most of my fellow Americans, I need to get back into shape a bit and am working on that.  Maybe I should post my weight loss results as well on this blog?  lol

I will be posting my first day’s worth of play here shortly, with some hand results.  Here goes nothing!
