Finale

5 02 2008

Well, I just got an email and everything will finally be ready tomorrow for me to go back to Full Tilt.  We shall see.  If that is the case, then tonight was my finale for stupid ass Vegas Poker 24/7.  Worst game selection ever.  It is just AP without the bad beat jackpot tables.  At 25NL, you can still find games, and you can find them with high VPIP and average pots, but you do run into tons of regulars.  They all seem to be the 22/20/5 kind that give me fits.  I gotta resolve this issue.  I can table select for now and avoid these guys for the most part when I get to Full Tilt.  But they will be all over the place as I move up levels, I am sure.

So I played 1,600 hands today.  Finished down a little over 1/2 BI.  I just could not get anything going.  I would get down about a BI, and then stack someone.  Then throughout the course of some more hands, I would drop back down, and then get back up again.  I just could not get anything going.  However, at least through talking with another player, I learned that I am folding far too much and I need to make a few changes.  These changes should be easy to make.  He said another player he knows who is pretty good had the same problem, and that got resolved, so I think this is more of a mentality change than anything else.

Well, I will post some big losers and winners here now.

This is just one sick fucking cooler.  Thank you poker gods for allowing that nice river to give me the hand that I had.

After I raise this flop, I am not never getting away from this hand against that small of a remaining stack.

Another standard loss here.  I will say that I like the size of my river bet here.  It allows me to get away from the hand if I am raised, but I can be certain I face a bigger bet if I just check.  Good blocking bet here, I think.

Is this a poor river bluff?  I like it in the sense that it hits my range pretty hard and I did not think villain would check a flush.  Well, it seems this happens much more often than I think it does happen at these limits.  I am not sure what to think of this river bluff, but I thought it might get some folds from weaker hands that hit the flop.

This is a pretty poor fold, I was told.  I will note villain’s aggression factor by street is 2/1/1.  I thought that he had a set and folded and I was told that you can’t really narrow someone down that far realistically.  Basically, headsup on the flop, you should almost always be going all in with hands like AA and KK.  I am overanalyzing what people have and thinking about what beats me, not about what they have.

Lucky for me the QQ came along.

Overall, I played okay, but made some mistakes for sure.  I think that this group that is forming will be quite good.  I have a good idea for the 4th player, but need to check with the other two players first, but I see no reason for there to be a problem.  I am very excited about the group and also going back to Full Tilt.  I have some ways to go, but I am looking forward to getting back to 50NL and I am looking forward to crushing it too!!

1)”Good Blocking Bet” with TPTK. My question is, what would you had done on the flop if villain 3x raised you?

2) “Poor river bluff?” I like it if villain has seen you bet draws and value bet when hitting on the river.

Against an unknown, I would just check it down because once he bet/calls on the flop he will usually want to get to showdown. The turn 8 hits alot of gut shot str8 or two pair type hands that he could be bet/calling with on the flop.

Against a thinking opponent, I like the play.

3)I actually like your play. I would only bet/3 bet if villain was a known tag/lag. Those aggro factors aren’t very high and I feel that he would only be c/r with 10J, AJo, 34, 33-10 and possibly a flush draw. He would probably 3 bet with JJ-AA on the BB 4 ways.

Once you bet/call the flop. You can evaluate the turn in position. Jd is a ugly card because it does complete his two pair. He bet’s strong, therefore I do think he has a set, flush draw, or two pair. I like the fold vs a unknown and save the rest of your stack.

4) what happened on that “lucky for me” hand? hand history seemed to be messed up

4)”lucky for me” hand. What did villains showdown?

If I get raised on hand 1, I push, but am unsure if this is a leak, because I am trying to be more aggressive there. It really depends on the type of opponent. Aggressive opponents, I definitely push, because they could be betting draws there. Against relatively passive opponents, I probably call and reevaluate the turn. If it is not scary, I am probably going with the hand. At this level, players show up with hands like KQ or QJ so often that I think it is profitable to make that play there.

I discussed the river bluff hand with Jason and he thinks it is a bad spot to bluff. After hearing what he to say about what I am repping, I agree. My error occured when I was focusing on what the villain had and not what I was trying to represent. Given that, I agree it is a poor bluff.

For all intents and purposes, I discussed the KK hand with a friend and he says I need to be getting it in on this type of flop all the time. If he has a set, then more power to him. In headsup pots (which this is essentially, given the other two folds before the C/R), with such a dry board, I need to be getting this in on the flop. I agree, I do tend to fold far too often.

The lucky he had QQ hand, the initial minraiser tabled AA and the other guy had QQ, so at least I won the side pot of like $8 with my KK. lol
