I thought I was running hot before. Now I know the definition of hot. Ask dodgy, here was witness to my ridiculous run, reading HHs from AIM during my run where I just could not be stopped. And then one time I did get stopped and lost the biggest pot of the night - and simultaneously made it all back and then another BI with two other hands! This was the sickest run I have ever head. + 6.5 BIs in 1,200 hands!!! There a re a few interesting spots, but for the most part, this is a brag post. So stop reading if you are running super cold right now. Also, check out the previous blog entry for my first in a weekly series of random top 5 lists. Complete with pics! Okay, so onto some hands.
I think this call is +EV. Only hand that could reasonably have hit this ace is a draw to the nut flush. Though I think the villain here raises draws, from what I have seen of him.
Gaining some value by calling and not raising the flop.
Sure, I sucked out. But only hands I am really losing to here are QQ, 77, 66, and 22. I think QQ raises me preflop. I think 66 and 77 are super unlikely, since I hold one of each. I have to go with this hand and I gotvery lucky. But I do think I played it properly.
Villain is 37/26/4 with an attempt to steal of 41%. I feel that you can make a good case for 3-betting here. However, as played, the flop is obvious. The turn, to me, screamed weakness. If he really has a strong hand, why bet pot? I feel the fact that his range is huge, that he could be double barreling a ton of hands here. I elect to call, because I think a raise folds out worse hands and gets called or raised by better hands. The river is interesting. I like my hand and it has showdown value, but I certainly want to keep this pot smaller. I elect to make a small blocker bet. I do this for several reasons: A) If I am raised here, I am almost always beat and can make an easy fold, B) I can get some value and a call from weaker hands that I am beating (which happened here), and C) The value I lose here if I get a fold is better than checking, because myhand cannot stand to call a river bet here. I feel this is a well played hand where I made a good read, went with it, and made some extra $$$.
Thanks for not raising this flop and putting me in a tough spot! Then, it is value bet, value bet!
Good bet sizing makes me feel like I am a puppeteer, controlling what my opponents do. Thanks for complying!
Minraising and letting me hit!
This was the biggest loser. This villain was so terrible, that if I had this hand to do over again, I would play it exactly the same way, including the river bet. I will get paid off with many other hands I beat here by this villain.
Cooler. Thought a small cooler, which is nicer than a big one.

Pre-flop: ($0.75, 6 players) Hero is UTG+1

UTG calls $0.5, Hero raises to $2.25, CO calls $2.25, BTN calls $2.25, 2 folds, UTG calls $1.75
Flop:
($9.75, 4 players)
UTG bets $3, Hero raises to $11, CO calls $11, 1 fold, UTG folds
I like my hand here. I raise because I want someone to reraise. I want to get it all in on the flop, and not see a blank on the turn. The CO does not comply with my plan and calls. This does not make me too happy.
Turn:
($34.75, 2 players)
The turn is a blank and I must check. He shoves (though not in there, the HH is lost. Miraculously, PT is right on my profits to within $5 somehow, lol) and I do not think I have the odds most of the time to make a call here. Talking to Jason about this hand, he says he likes a call here multiway, as we do not have position and we also want to see a turn card here with as many players in the hand as possible and we like to see a cheap card. My mistake was raising according to him. After thinking about this hand, he is right. Raising here is a silly play on the flop with 4 people in it. Heads up, I raise this flop every time.
Here is a plot of how I ran today and how I have run this month so far.

Btimm,
Great analysis on all hands. I don’t see a leak anywhere and you probably played it better than me.
I also agree with Jason/you that calling the flop with JQh with a oe str8/flush draw is best because you want as many people in the pot as possible.
If you decide to raise the donk lead, make it $7 instead of $11. You want to see if UTG likes his hand for as cheaply as possible 4 way. If CO or BTN shoves, you could possibly get away from it or shutdown if called.

Apple: If CO or button shoves, I think I have to call. It all depends on what I think their range is, but with an OESD and flush draw, I have most likely about 13 outs (assuming 2 are dead). I am not happy if the button shoves because his stack is bigger, but if UTG or CO shoves, I have to call I think and take the variance, because there is already $25 of dead money in the pot.
